The practicum
The practicum is designed to provide real-world experience for those students who have not been employed in a criminal justice field. It involves
activity at an actual criminal justice (or related) agency. The practicum is generally completed in one or two quarters. Students should meet with
the practicum adviser by the beginning of the quarter prior to the practicum's inception. Students taking a practicum should expect to spend
approximately twelve hours per week on site for each four credit hours of registration. They should also be prepared to document the knowledge
and experience that they have gained in the practicum. Students may suggest or arrange practicum agencies, but such agencies must be
approved in advance by the practicum adviser. Students may not receive practicum credit for current or prior employment.
The interim practicum adviser is Robert Nelson. He may be contacted
