Advising Resources for Students

Navigating the system of advising at Wright State can be a bit tricky. The College of Liberal Arts is somewhat unique in that our students are advised primarily by faculty members in their individual departments. We have over forty different majors in almost twenty different departments and programs, so centralized advising for all students on a regular basis is logistically difficult. Therefore, for any issue or concern, a student's first point of contact should always be the department of his or her major. If a particular advisor is unable to meet with you in your department, it is often beneficial to seek out the department chair or program director, and then finally to check in with the Office of Academic Affairs for more complex issues or when you are specifically referred to us.

Another excellent resource you should use on a regular basis is your degree audit report. A DARS report should be available to every student enrolled in one our majors, and this report is accessible to you online through your Wings Express account. If you do not have an advisor-reviewed audit online, please contact us, and we can prepare one tailored specifically for you and your individual program of study.

Finally, for information on navigating the WSU computer system and to learn about signing up for classes, consult the tutorials in the Wings Resource Center. Signing up for classes the first time can be confusing, but our system is fairly straightforward once you've logged in and begun to explore it.
